the prayer hands definitely have the best meaning. I admire his love towards his family. I believe family life is very important.

I think it's cool how in the wedding painting Van Eyck put a lot of very small details like his name and the image in the mirror.

Jan Van Eyck's Giovanni Arnolfini and his bride symbols the class of the genders. This painting delineates the gender roles of the couple; men: public, authoritative, business, women: private, domestic care, childbearing. There is so much detail in this painting that many have disputed all of the symbolism of this painting.

i love the meaning behind the prayer hands, and i think it should definitely be more well-known. it's a great story of brotherly love, and family should definitely be one of the most important things in life
