It was a period of enlightenment that caused people to rise up against monarchy and were replaced with equality, citizenship, and other rights

During the enlightenment era, people started thinking more for themselves rather than based of others decisions. the people began to riot against the government and strive for equal rights.

France ruled by King Louis XVI was a country of corruption as he paid no attention to the other 99% of the population. Total stratification brought about poverty and famine. The people finally revolted against the government, being heavily influenced by the success of the American Revolution.

The French Revolution was a result from discontent at the economic state of France, and at the fact that it was still ruled by an absolute monarch. After Louis XVI was eventually deposed and then beheaded, France entered into a Revolutionary Republic, and under Robespierre France suffered "The Reign of Terror", where hundreds were executed daily. New leaders rose and fell, and after a coup d'etat, Napoleon became Consul, and later Emperor. So, overall, France's government did not change, but at least it made steps towards a more fair society for the poor and entered into a brief golden age of land dominance.
