Monet is my favorite painter from this particular period. His use of bright colors and broad, blended brushstrokes creates a soft look to all of his works. He also helped lead the impressionism movement. "Terrace at Sainte Adresse" is a painting by Monet. I found this one to be interesting because it seems to have more form and shadows added than Monet's other works. He uses the sunlight to create shadows at an angle by the people and furniture on the terrace. He also uses vibrant colors for the garden, ocean, and sky.

My favorite painter from this period is Van Gogh. He was my favorite artist due to the fact that I like a lot of his pieces because they are very visually appealing. Also, his use of brushstrokes and style in general is quite unique and impressive. One of his paintings that I like is called "Starry Night over the Rhode". I really like this piece because it uses many of the same elements that was used in Starry Night but more realistic and shows a night by the harbor. His use of the different shades of blue with the yellow is also something I enjoyed about the piece.

My favorite artist from this period is Alfred Sisley. I love that he was dedicated to painting landscapes, but also in using en plein air techniques to make his paintings come more alive and realistic in portraying different scenery. My favorite painting by Sisley is "Lane Near A Small Town" because of his use of linear perspective and the different values of green, browns, and yellows to make the viewer seem as if they are there and were walking along the graveled path.
