Dancers began wearing shorter and tighter costumes in order to show the audience body placement and movement much better than in court dresses. Also, classical music began to accompany the dance.

Ballet in the Romanticism era was distinguished by the decline of the male dance, there was more man vs. nature scenarios and the was a clear division between the author and the choreographer.

Through the centuries, ballet picks up new styles and forms eras that will be made into the ballet history. Even today ballet is advancing to develop new trends. However, The Romantic era of ballet was mostly be female dancers with more grace. Also, ballets including more intricate scenery, costumes and illusions. These ballets were more ostentatious, similar to the Baroque era.

Many of the works of the Romantic ballet focused on the conflict between man and nature,society and the supernatural, while others focused on bringing the exotic worlds of far off lands and national character into the ballets of the period. The era gave way to decline of the male dancer, while ballerina took center stage

In the baroque period many ballet dances were done by people of the court and even the king, they were mainly for entertainment and weren't very rehearsed. ballet dancers in the romantic age were mainly women, and the dance expressed soul and emotion, telling a story.
