This dome was the biggest dome in the world for quite some time. This dome was the symbol of the start of the Renaissance and influenced other artists to study classical ideas and incorporate it in their art.

The dome's original name is Santa Maria del Fiore, but is normally as the Duomo (the Dome).

Brunelleschi's architectural masterpiece has served as a template for the world's capital buildings to follow to this day. ( I also climbed that dome like a pro in Assassin's Creed II)

Brunelleschi didnt design the dome. the designer passed away before completion of it. Brunelleschi just finished it.

The dome is pretty impressive but I would be too scared to lay some of the bricks myself like Brunelleschi did...I think he might have been a tad cray.

The dome of the Florence Cathedral was the first of its kind since classical times but was not created with concrete. Brunelleschi used a double shell made of sandstone and marble instead to replicate the domes that were created during classical times. In my opinion, the inside of the cathedral is almost as impressive as the outside. There are a total of 44 stained glass windows and a fresco created by Vasari and Zuccaro that is beautiful. There is also a massive clock with the faces of Evangelists placed above the entrance.

The beauty of this dome cannot be described. This dome towers over the city of Florence and is a symbol of Brunelleschi's talent.

The Florence Cathedral dome was the first octagonal dome in history to be built without a temporary supporting frame which showcases the great talent and passion that Brunelleschi held when creating this beautiful dome. I would love to go see it one day, to see the beauty of this dome myself and not in a picture.
