Michelangelo's David is much more detailed and it looks more like Classical sculptures from ancient Greece and Rome. Donatello's David looks very boyish and not as well done.

Although Donatello and michelangelo's sculptures are very similiar in that they depict the same image they are also very different. Donatello's sculpture is of a younger david made of bronze. Michelangelo's sculpture is of a older david and has a more classical style.

The bronze one looks like a pimp.. he has the hat, the cane, the pose, everything.

I like michaelangelos the best. It is my favorite. They are both made out of different materials. Donatellos looks more feminine. Donatellos has more detail.

I definitely prefer michaelangos David over donatellos because it looks more classical and it's more of what I imagine when I think of David. I think donatellos David looks more feminine and I don't like the bronze material.

I like Michelangelo's David much more than Donatello's. Michelangelo's is much more detailed, classical and appealing. Where as Donatello's looks very young and combined with the bronze is very unappealing.

I like Michelangelos more because I think he represented David's victory over Goliath better. In Donatello's sculpture of David, David appears to have a worried look on his face. In Michelangelos, he looks very manly and he is looking up.

I think Michelangelo's David is much more sensical because it's more anatomically correct and biblically correct as David didn't use a sword or wear a 16th century hat.

While Michelangelo's David has a more classical style than Donatello's, Donatello's David is a more realistic statue. Michelangelo's David only had contraposto, but David had much more movement. Of course they both depict David as a young man, the difference being only in age.

I totally agree. Each sculpture has unique and stunning attributes but Michelangelo's is more realistic and believable.

Both are influenced by the classical examples of Greece and Rome. Donatello's sculpture was created over 70 years earlier. Also, Donatello's statue is only about 6 feet tall where Michelangelo's is over 13 feet tall.

The bronze sculptor of David portrays him as a young boy while the marble portrays David as young man.

I like Michelangelo's David over Donatello's because Michelangelo added a lot more humanistic details and it's the David we think of. Both sculptures are influenced by Greece and Rome.

Donatello's David seems more "girly" to me. He seems more youthful & that hat is just killing it... Michelangelo's David seems the most simplistic of the two. They are also made of two different materials, but all-in-all stand for the same thing & illuminate on the beautiful sculptures of their time.

I like the Michelangelo's David better than the Donatello's David. Michelangelo has more detail and it has a classical style. I didn't like the bronze of Donatello David and it looked like a female.

I like Michelangelo's better than Donatello's because of how manly and detailed he is compared to the other. And I like the marble color instead of the bronze color.

Michelangelo's David i think better depicts David with Renaissance humanism as David looks as if he is deciding whether or not to go into battle.
