Is it more Impressive now? How might Monet's health altered his view?
Each week you will select one prompt (from a selection of prompts to choose from) to blog about. This is done in lieu of bellwork and obviously will require a device. The prompts are longer than traditional bellwork prompts and may require research and/or creative projects.

Monet's Water Lilies series has many bright colors and pastels which reflect the Impressionist movement. There is no use of dull colors such black or brown in the series. Thick paints and pastels are often used for impressionism because they allow the artist to create quick brushstrokes and intense color that usually displays sunlight in some way. Monet is believed to have had cataracts which affected his painting later by making images appear blurred and intensifying certain colors.

Monet's water lilies has many bright colors. The color of the flowers stand out compared to the blue water. There is no dull colors whatsoever. He used very thick paint and didn't blend his brush strokes. This artwork was done quickly thus making it impressionistic. His health made his eyes very bad this could be why everything is so blurry.

Monet uses vibrant colors with no blacks or browns. Inpressionist painters used these colors in reaction against the traditional forms of art. Paint is the best material to use because of its color and ability to allow a quick artwork.

Monets water lilies seem a little dark but with colors that make the lilies stand out from the water. The brush strokes seem rushed as there are no details when seen up close but from afar, the painting seems whole and complete

While the color is bright without blacks or browns, the colors are still pastel, unlike the brighter colors of the post-imperssionism era. The easel was perfect for impressionist painters since Monet and other spent all their time painting outside.

Monet uses many bright colors (a main characteristic of Impressionism) and even in the shadow, he does not use the "gravy browns" or any black or browns. This defines Impressionism style because it appears to be painted only from one quick glance. There aren't very many details and Monet does not take the time to blend his colors, another Impressionism technique. The best materials I think you could use for Impressionism style is paint because it's easiest to throw on the canvas in more of an effortless way. This piece is especially impressive when you consider how large it is.

The colors are very light and pretty. The brush strokes are hasty and rushed. This piece is definitely impressionist and captures a moment.
